Gonstead

Did you know there are literally dozens of “types” of chiropractic care? Your Doctor of Chiropractic chooses one or more techniques to specialize in. This is why people can have such different types of visits depending on the office they choose. That also means if they weren’t successful in a past chiropractic setting, they may have just not been in the right office for them.

As Gonstead trained doctors, we treat root causes rather than symptoms, helping our patients heal trauma and long-term issues, not just acute pain.

Because the Gonstead method is so rigorous (there are only 500 Gonstead doctors in the world), it gives us the freedom to help anyone from the elderly, to infants, to athletes to post-accident injury.

Your spine is an engineering marvel, permitting you to stand, turn and bend, while protecting the vital neurological communication pathway of the spinal cord. Our evaluation and spinal adjusting approach honors the biomechanical integrity of your spine.

Weight-bearing X-rays – Unlike hospital X-rays, we’ll send you to an imaging center where you stand in a weight-bearing position and take pictures that capture your entire spine from your skull to your tailbone, from the back and from the side. And while some chiropractors will adjust you without such pictures, we never do. As we always say, “To see is to know.”

Posture evaluation – Throughout your care plan we’ll observe your posture and weight distribution through an app. Forward head carriage, high shoulder, uneven hips and other nuances will be noted, guiding what we do on each visit.

Thermographic scan – We’ll use our handheld scanning instrument to measure minute changes in temperature along your spine. These reveal areas of inflammation and nervous system dysfunction.

Specific adjustments – With a clear understanding of your unique spinal pattern, we’ll apply a carefully controlled thrust to your spine at just the right time and place. Welcome to scientific chiropractic!

Extremities and Sports

Shoulder injuries, chronic elbow or wrist issues when lifting or playing? Nagging knee or ankle injuries? Whether you are trying to optimize performance or on the road to recovery we can find the root of what is going on and guide you to a new level of your game. Applying the Gonstead method we can optimize performance, accelerate recovery, and promote overall well-being in the world of sports. Specifically correcting the spine and joints nurtures growing bodies, enhances physical capabilities, and builds resilience for athletics and life.

Through specific scientific chiropractic care athletes are able to unlock the fullest potential of human performance making certain the athlete is giving the best possible performance during competition or their daily training regime. Our team is determined to make sure your body is functioning at 100% all of the time. Michael Jordan has always said, “I didn’t know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor. Since I’ve been in chiropractic, I’ve improved by leaps and bounds both mentally and physically.”

Pediatric, Pregnancy, and Post-Partum

Infant Care

Most of our kiddos started from in-utero and love their visits with us as they grow! Being trained and certified in the Webster Technique, we believe in the vital benefits for moms and babies during pregnancy and childbirth.

When making adjustments for young ones, we use the same gentle force you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato – we simply hold the position while the joint corrects to the proper position on its own. As an example, the lower part of a baby’s spine is usually associated with sleep and digestion, or can be involved in later issues with crawling. Gentle adjustments to that area relieve the nerve pressure and allow function to return at a normal level.

Pediatric

As the Twig is Bent……So grows the tree. That’s why a large portion of our practice is newborns, infants, toddlers and children. Moms and dads who want the best for their children, visit Flourishing Family Chiropractic, LLC regularly. They see the wisdom of detecting and correcting some of the more common postural and developmental problems early—avoiding many of the issues we see in adults later on.

The birth process, even under normal conditions, is frequently the first cause of spinal stress.

After the head of the child appears, the physician grabs the baby’s head and twists it around in a figure eight motion, lifting it up to receive the lower shoulder and then down to receive the upper shoulder. This creates significant stress on the spine of the baby. “Spinal cord and brain stem traumas often occur during the process of birth but frequently escape diagnosis. Infants often experience lasting neurological defects. Spinal trauma at birth is essentially attributed to longitudinal traction, especially when this force is combined with flexion and torsion of the spinal axis during delivery.”

Pregnancy

Pregnancy and birth, as a natural process, has the potential to be enhanced with specific, scientific chiropractic care allowing the mother and child to adapt and function the natural way it was intended to during this beautiful process.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is vital to the normal physiological function of both the mother and baby in pregnancy and birth. In the mother, chiropractic care prepares the pelvis for an easier pregnancy and birth by creating a state of balance in pelvic bony structures, muscles and ligaments. Chiropractic care removes torsion of the ligaments that support the uterus thus potentially reducing aberrant tension to the woman’s uterus.

Chiropractic adjustments reduce interference to the mother’s vital nerve system which controls and co-ordinates all of her systems and functions. By improving maternal function we are decreasing the potential for unnecessary intervention.

To the infant, chiropractic care reduces interference to the mother’s nerve system allowing for better baby development. Pelvic balance allows the baby greater room to develop without restrictions to the forming cranium, spine and other skeletal structures. Chiropractic care offers the baby the room to move into the best possible position for birth. With proper fetal positioning, there is a significant decrease in dystocia and the resulting birth trauma caused by intervention.

Post-Partum

For many mothers, the bodily changes, pain, and discomfort that come with pregnancy do not magically disappear after giving birth. During pregnancy, both the body and mind experience profound changes. Just when a pregnant woman has begun to get used to one change, something new pops up. Delivery brings with it a whole new set of physical and mental challenges. It may take months, even a year or more, for most women to fully recover.

While postpartum recovery can be long and frustrating, chiropractic can help ease many facets of the healing process. By focusing on holistic healing, with an emphasis on correcting imbalances in the musculoskeletal and nervous system through spinal adjustment, chiropractic care can help women in the post-partum period ease pain, regain mobility, and start feeling like themselves again.

We can help you feel better, from the inside out.
